Can I put a male or female beta fish w/ tropical?

i believe they r compatible... i used to have four female betas in a tank with mollies... i believe tetras were on the list on compatible fish that i found.... all i can say is try it out but watch em for awhile to make sure they dont fight also make sure there are lots of places for the fish to hide just in case they do get attacked
