What is a good source of information on the syncretized religions of the Caribbean such as santeria, palo, etc

I would like recommendations for websites and books for more information about these new forms of religion which combined Catholicism with African beliefs. The books I have found so far do not seem authentic. They are very New Age like, but don't seem to have many roots or history.
