How do you deal with violations and deletions?

I've been here less than a week and already had one violation. I wasn't being mean, or vicious in my answer. I just asked the guy a question on why he would ask the question he did when it was obvious that it was to ridicule. I know that I should just have answered the question. Anyway, he couldn't handle my response and therefore reported me. I'm okay with it and it didn't bother me. Some people just can't handle anything.
